Tell CommonSpirit to stop using Coloradans as a cash cow to support out-of-state hospitals!

Background:

National hospital giant CommonSpirit Health owns some of the most profitable hospitals in the state of Colorado… posting eye-popping double-digit profits across all their Colorado-based hospitals in 2022. Two of their hospitals—St. Anthony Summit in Frisco and OrthoColorado in Lakewood—posted profit margins close to 35%.

And yet, the hospitals they own outside of Colorado are losing money. CommonSpirit ended the fiscal year last year with a $1.4 billion loss and just posted another $738 million net loss in the first quarter of 2024.

Where do they go to make up for these lost profits? Apparently, Colorado is CommonSpirit’s cash cow.

That’s why CommonSpirit is threatening to leave Anthem’s network unless they receive increased payments more than 2x the rate of inflation! Anthem’s customers – Colorado employers and consumers who are already paying higher costs for care at CommonSpirit – would have to pay even more.
